Two Boys Brew

Two Boys Brew is located in Phibsborough, further away from the city centre. Although it’s usually busy and reservations are not possible, you can give them your number and take a walk in the area while they call you when there’s a free table.

The café’s interior is stylish and minimal, with a green vibe. The back of the space, in particular, looked stunning with its roof window and hanging plants.

As for the menu, it doesn’t offer a wide variety of options, but the choices available are absolutely fantastic. The avocado toast was particularly delicious and came in a generous portion. It was topped with a yellow homemade sauce, a poached egg, crunchy halloumi and seeds, and the flavours were exquisite. The coffee was also delightful, and you can even buy beans to take home.

Furthermore, The Two Boys also operates a smaller location called Milo’s. See it later…

Price:

  • Avo toast – 15,00 EUR
  • Flat white – 3,70 EUR

SLICE

Located in Stoneybatter, this charming café offers both outdoor and indoor seating. During our two visits, there was always a queue, for a good reason… The café boasts a distinctive blue facade and cashier furniture, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere. The interior features paintings, lush plants, and cosy lighting.

The specialty coffee served here, sourced from 3fe and other roasteries, was particularly delightful. The menu is equally impressive, featuring a wide variety of dishes with interesting flavour combinations. I particularly enjoyed the avocado-based dishes, both looked stunning and colourful. The brunch options, in particular, were bursting with flavour, leaving my taste buds thoroughly delighted.

In addition to their culinary offerings, the café also offers Rayu for purchase, adding to the unique experience. Their selection of sweets was equally tempting, and I highly recommend trying the Chocolate Guinness slice, it was absolutely divine. This café has earned its place as one of the best spots for brunch in Dublin.

Price:

  • Pea & avocado rayu – 12,00 EUR
  • Eggs & greens – 12,50 EUR
  • Flat white – 3,40 EUR
  • Cappuccino – 3,40 EUR

Social Fabric Café

Not far from SLICE, Social Fabric Café is also a bustling and popular spot. When we visited on a Sunday, we had to wait for around half an hour to get a table. The interior turned out to be much more spacious than it appeared from the outside.

The café features minimal design, creating a bright and inviting space adorned with gorgeous, colourful art pieces inspired by Irish natural and built sights.

The menu offered a wide variety of dishes, making it difficult to choose. Ultimately, we decided to share the Avo toast and Eggs Bene, and it was a perfect decision. The Avo toast, consisting of mashed avo on sourdough bread topped with poached eggs and sprouts, was deceptively simple but incredibly tasty. Meanwhile, the Eggs Bene was an elevated version of the avo toast, topped with poached eggs, bacon, and hollandaise sauce. Both dishes were a delightful treat.

One of our friends opted for the Vegetarian breakfast, which not only looked flavorful but also came in a generous portion. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Although our brunch portions weren’t particularly large, we ended our meal on a sweet note with a creamy and delicious brownie, although all the sweets and cakes looked equally tempting.

It’s also worth noting that every dish on the menu had vegetarian and sometimes vegan variations, making it a great spot for individuals with dietary preferences.

Price:

  • Avo on Toast – 10,00 EUR
  • Eggs Bene – 13,50 EUR
  • Vegetarian Brekky – 13,00 EUR
  • Flat white – 3,50 EUR
  • Cappuccino – 3,50 EUR
  • Brownie – 4,00 EUR

Wuff

The cornerstone of Wuff is located in Smithfield, and it’s a popular spot for brunch. Reservations are only possible on weekdays, so if you’re planning to visit on the weekend, be prepared for a bit of a wait. They’ll put your name on the waiting list and notify you when your table is ready. While you wait, you can head to the little window takeaway to enjoy a coffee or pastries.

The restaurant is quite small, with many tables packed closely together, but the colourful dog paintings add a quirky touch to the ambience. The waiters are friendly and provide fast service. The coffee is good but not outstanding. However, if you’re a fan of Eggs Benedict, you’ll be thrilled with the menu because it offers a variety of delicious options.

During our visit, the dishes looked appealing, and they tasted just as good as they looked. My Eggs Royale was topped with wilted spinach, perfectly poached eggs, generous slices of salmon, and a delectable Hollandaise sauce. The Chorizo Eggs Benedict also stood out, thanks to the homemade tomato relish that added a special touch. We wrapped up our meal with a brownie, which was tasty but not particularly noteworthy.

Price:

  • Eggs Royale – 16,50 EUR
  • Chorizo Eggs Benedict – 15,95 EUR
  • Flat white – 3,80 EUR
  • Cappuccino – 3,90 EUR
  • Brownie – 7,95 EUR

Urbanity

Located in Smithfield, the restaurant has many tables and a smaller outdoor area in the square. The menu changes frequently to feature seasonal ingredients and offers special dishes made with local ingredients, presented in an artistic way. Although the portions aren’t large, the food is tasty and satisfying. However, considering the portion size, the prices were a bit high.

Additionally, the restaurant offers vegetarian and gluten-free food options and has a selection of delicious cakes available at the cashier. I particularly enjoyed the strawberry pistachio slice, although I found the pistachio flavour to be a bit subtle. The restaurant also has its own roastery and does not take reservations.

Lunch is also served there.

Price:

  • Grilled asparagus – 16,00 EUR
  • Extra avocado – 4,00 EUR
  • ‘Huevos revueltos’ organic scrambled eggs – 14,00 EUR
  • Smoked salmon – 17,00 EUR
  • Flat white – 3,00 EUR
  • Cappuccino – 3,00 EUR

Blas Cafe

Located in the centre, close to O’Connell Street, this inviting café has a spacious interior with industrial vibes, featuring paintings and prints by local artists. The décor gives the impression of a studio transformed into a coffee shop. Additionally, nestled in one corner is a design studio showcasing local art pieces such as jewellery, prints, lamps, and other home decor items.

The café operates on a self-service system: you place your order at the cashier and receive a beeper. Once you find a seat, you wait for your order. Fortunately, the food was prepared quickly, and we didn’t have to wait long. The café was not very busy and had many available tables.

Their menu offers various brunch dishes, including classics like Eggs Benedict, toasts, beans, sausages, and pancakes. My boyfriend and I both opted for the avocado toast, which exceeded our expectations. It wasn’t just plain sourdough toast with avocado. It came laid on a bed of fresh salads and was topped with fried eggs, feta, seeds, sauces, and pickled veggies, creating a delightful burst of flavours.

And, of course, we couldn’t resist sampling the brownie, and it did not disappoint. It was wonderfully gooey and delicious, leaving us completely satisfied.

Price:

  • Blas Eggs Avocado – 11,00 EUR
  • Flat white – 3,75 EUR
  • Cappuccino – 3,75 EUR
  • Brownie – 3,75 EUR

Tang (Abbey Street)

Tang has 3 locations in Dublin. Once, we stopped by Abbey Street for coffee and sweets. Their coffee is delicious. The brownie was tasty but a bit too sweet for my taste. The energy ball was delicious, though.

We decided to return to test their brunch selection. All the dishes sounded tasty, from banana pancakes and Turkish eggs to hummus. Both of our dishes were super tasty. I tried the shakshuka with sourdough bread and extra chorizo. Super tasty and great texture! The mushroom on toast was super flavorful with the poached eggs, spices, tahini, and herbs.

We didn’t remain hungry, so there was no dessert this time. They use local ingredients, and all suppliers are listed on the menu.

Additionally, the friendly staff and nice atmosphere with plants and sustainable-inspired decorations, including one wall decorated with dried flowers, made our experience even more enjoyable.

Price:

  • Mushrooms on toast – 12,50 EUR
  • Shakshuka – 11,75 EUR
  • Extra chorizo – 2,95 EUR
  • Flat white – 3,60 EUR
  • Cappuccino – 3,60 EUR
  • Brownie – 3,95 EUR

One Society

Close to O’Connell Street, this restaurant operates on a walk-in basis only, so weekends can be busy, especially if you arrive around 10-11 am. There are many tables available both inside and outside.

The menu offers a wide selection, from pancake variations to granola and toasts. I’ve tried the kale toast with eggs, and Jackson ordered their signature One Society eggs. Both dishes were delicious. The service was exceptional, with every waiter being super friendly. After receiving our food, and eating without speaking to each other, the staff checked in on us multiple times to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. The coffee was delicious, the food was super tasty, and the overall vibe was great.

Price:

  • One Society Eggs with a side – 13,95 EUR
  • Pan Fried Kale on Toast – 12,90 EUR
  • Flat white – 3,40 EUR
  • Cappuccino – 3,40 EUR

Cloud Cafe

We decided to check out a cosy brunch spot situated a bit further from the city centre, near Fairview Park. When we arrived at around 11am, we were pleased to find that we didn’t have to wait for a table, although by noon there was a small queue. The café features an indoor seating area, a closed terrace, and some tables outside, set against a vibrant and colourful mural.

The decor inside is simple yet charming. I particularly enjoyed the water-themed paintings in soothing shades of green and blue, as well as the delightful touch of fresh flowers on each table. The staff was friendly and attentive, adding to the pleasant atmosphere.

For coffee enthusiasts, the cafe serves up offerings from Cloud Picker Roastery, which were very satisfying. The breakfast options were equally enjoyable. My scrambled eggs, while tasty, could have benefited from a bit more salt, but they paired well with the fresh greens and toasted bread. The avocado toast was a hit, complemented by the generous bacon portion and perfectly cooked eggs. Each dish showcased the use of quality ingredients, which truly elevated the flavours.

To end our meal on a sweet note, we decided to indulge in a brownie. Topped with rich salted caramel, the brownie was a gorgeous treat that left us thoroughly satisfied. Approved:)

Price:

  • Green eggs – 9,00 EUR
  • Extra smashed avocado – 3,5 EUR
  • Smashed avo – 5,50 EUR
  • Extra poached eggs – 3,00 EUR
  • Extra bacon – 3,00 EUR
  • Flat white – 3,30 EUR
  • Cappuccino – 3,50 EUR
  • Salted caramel brownie – 3,50 EUR

Milo’s

Sister place of Two Boys Brew, this café is located in Drumcondra. Despite being a bit outside of the city centre, it wasn’t too crowded on the Sunday morning we visited.

The cafe has a distinctive minimal design, both inside and out. The coffee was delicious, and the cosy atmosphere was a plus.

Named after a dog, the cafe’s logo is a cute puppy face, making it a must-visit for dog lovers. The menu is simpler compared to Two Boys Brew, but I was glad to find avocado toast with a unique twist and delicious ingredients. The sourdough bread was generously topped with avocado sauce, and the combination of tomato and cheese complemented the flavours perfectly. I also tried their Brekkie Bap, an omelette burger served in a hamburger bun with cheese, bacon, onion, and sauce. The blend of flavours was delightful.

The café features a selection of pastries and sweets in addition to savoury offerings. We indulged in a brownie, and it surpassed my expectations. It was one of the best brownies I’ve ever tasted, incredibly moist and rich. I highly recommend trying it!

Price:

  • Avo toast – 13,50 EUR
  • Brekkie Bap – 10,50 EUR
