Close to Szent István park, you’ll find the cute little place of Piknik, which is “healthy, specialty, lovely”. And I totally agree with them, they offer healthy croissant sandwiches, chia pudding, smoothie, cookies, pastries and vegan cakes, specialty coffee and the place is lovely.
Inside there are only a few small tables, though outside you can find more seats in the warmer season.
On the shelves, you’ll also find local products like chutney, syrup and tea.
Három Tarka Macska
In the morning it can be busy because a lot of people grab some pastries for takeaway, so usually, there are free tables outside as well as inside. Here you can choose from beautiful salty and sweet pastries, sandwiches, omelette, cakes and yoghurt, though the coffee isn’t so good. On Pozsonyi Street you don’t have to worry about not finding quality coffee, go to My Green Cup, Double shot, Ébresztő or the previously mentioned Piknik.
During summer, you can have breakfast on the terrace, but without reservation, you might find free seats only inside. Wherever you sit, you’ll need to figure out what to choose from their wide selection of breakfasts.
My favourite is their bagel, which can be filled with goat cheese, tuna, salmon, ham and even more. Their avocado sandwich is also good, but the best for me is the salmon sandwich served with salad.

Double shot Partisan coffee shop
This small artisan coffee shop changed its name from Double shot to Partisan coffee shop, though nothing changed, the coffee is still delicious. However, they are currently refreshing the menu. Last time I had Eco avocado toast, which wasn’t an actual avo toast. It was called eco because its made of green peas instead of avocado, which is super tasty, but in Hungary, we have only imported avocado, so it’s not good for our environment.
The friendly baristas ensured me that their breakfast menu will be back soon. In the meantime, they serve quiche and croissants. And specialty coffee, of course 😉
My Green Cup
My Green Cup is famous for its excellent specialty coffee and also have a few breakfast options. Pick a sandwich, a croissant sandwich or a healthy cake and you won’t stay hungry.
Its interior design is so adorable and stylish with green lamps, green coffee machine, green chairs, green plants and green signs. Aaaaand some coffee also comes in green cup 😉
In Babka, you don’t have to worry about not finding a free table. They have many tables inside and outside as well. They have a few brunch options like croissant, New York bagel, masala omelette, just to mention a few. My choice, the avocado toast wasn’t bad, though the bread was too crispy and was topped only with a thin layer of avocado cream. Next time, I’ll try another option.
Ébresztő – Closed
Ébresztő is a cute little café (3 tables + a bar) with tropical prints, blush pink wall, stylish cement tiles and specialty coffees on the shelves and behind the counter, where the magic happens… I mean, where they prepare tasty breakfast and brew quality coffee for you. Take a look at the tasty pastry and the healthy chia puddings selection. Their exclusive menu includes super delicious avocado toast and others. The avo toast with salmon, seeds, avocado and salad was displayed on a stylish board. Pretty and tasty and they didn’t spare on avocado 😛 One of the best avocado toast in Budapest! Prices: Avocado toast – 1290 HUF Batch brew – 650 HUF Flat white – 800 HUF Website: Ébresztő Instagram: @ebreszto Address: 1137 Budapest, Jászai Mari square 4/B. JM6 Bakery & Café
JM6 Bakery & Café has a romantic interior with nice design. They serve sandwiches, pastries, cakes and muffins. The tomato pesto sandwich was delicious.
The pasty collection is impressive, everything looks so tasty, so I had to choose something for takeaway, and later I was absolutely happy for my pistachio roll. #omnomnom
Fabrik Specialty Coffee – Design – Workshop
Fabrik a special specialty coffee shop with delicious coffee and a co-working place on the top. So you can even work in this cool interior after having a quality coffee and breakfast. Choose from sandwiches, dip platter, cakes and energy balls. I tried the vegetable dip platter with toast and salad, and I wasn’t hungry after it! The brownie ball is also recommended if you like sweet bites.

- Flat white – 800 HUF
- Brownie ball – 400 HUF
